This site is a work in progress right now.
I am transfering over all my information I have in other areas and on other blogs.. It should be up and running and complete soon!
After hearing from a few other FA mom’s I was curious about the SoDelicious Coconut yogurt.
I scoured the internet looking for ingredients and heard there may be rice starch in it. I was unable to find a good ingredient listing so I emailed the company. (looks like there is a complete ingredient listing online now)
My son has a condition called FPIES (food protein induce entercolitis syndrome)
which leaves him allergic to all grains, and he also has allergies to Dairy, Soy and eggs.
Someone suggested we try the SoDelicious coconut yogurt. Do you have an ingredient list for it? He is highly allergic to rice and I heard mention that is may have rice in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
And within days received a great email in return:
There is rice starch in the coconut yogurt. Below are the ingredients listing
for the vanilla. All of the flavors have the rice starch. We have extremely
comprehensive systems in place that entail testing of equipment, testing of
products and official statements from our ingredient suppliers to assure there
is no dairy, soy or egg in our products but we can not guarantee that the rice
starch in the yogurt is completely devoid of any rice protein.
INGREDIENTS: WATER, COCONUT MILK, ORGANIC EVAPORATED CANE JUICE, PECTIN, CHICORY ROOT EXTRACT, DEXTROSE, NATURAL FLAVORS, ALGIN (KELP EXTRACT), MAGNESIUM PHOSPHATE, TRICALCIUM PHOSPHATE, RICE STARCH, LOCUST BEAN GUM, AGAR,
CULTURE, CARRAGEENAN, GUAR GUM, DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, VITAMIN B12.
Yes, there is rice starch and I couldn’t find a lot of information on the protein level in rice starch but decided to try it anyway.
We were lucky to find it available at our local Sunflower Market . On our typical food trial day (Sunday mornings) we attempted our first bite.
It was cautiously received. The second bite was easier. We only tried 5 bites that day.
A few days later I mixed the yogurt with peaches. There was no way he was going to eat it. We managed to squeeze in a couple bites. I am optimistic and really want to try again sometimes soon.
There was no reaction that we could detect. We were leery of the coconut – nut connection but Miles didn’t react to the “mix nut” skin prick test.
I would love to hear if you have tried it and how it worked for your kids.
(My store only has Plain and Vanilla in stock, looking at their updated website they have 9 flavors now. Many of them DO NOT have rice starch! Makes me want to go out and buy those other flavors NOW…)
